May I sincerely thank you again for your generous and insightful contribution to the 2011 VMIA Risk Conference. As our breakfast presenter, keynote speaker and panelist, we are particularly grateful to you. The comments you made at these sessions, raising the link between global/national risk and natural disasters, but the topic firmly on our delegates' agenda. Feedback on all of your presentations has been extremely positive. You have left us with some valuable and thought-provoking messages.

For myself and on behalf of Loudoun Water, I want to thank you once more for your powerful presentation for our Future Environment Scan Workshop. The conversations on Friday afternoon were charged with energy and ideas, thanks to your contribution. I feel certain the resulting planning process was elevated to a degree it might not have reached without the information you shared.

Dr. Mills gave a very stimulating presentation at the United Kingdom Financial Services Authority annual insurance conference in April 2008. He took full account of his audience and tailored his contribution to insurers operating both in the UK market and with a very international perspective. His account of the evidence on man-made climate change was authoritative and persuasive; and his excellent knowledge of the insurance context enabled him to translate this admirably into risks and opportunities of direct relevance to insurers. The audience were clearly better educated and inspired as a result.

Dr. Mills was simply outstanding. As keynote speaker, he attracted record attendance to the 2008 joint spring meeting of the Casualty Actuaries of the Northwest and the Seattle Actuaries Club. Never before have we received so much positive feedback from attendees about the quality of a speaker. His talk was based on his paper "From Risk to Opportunity: Insurer Responses to Climate Change". The audience was captivated as he presented evidence that man-made climate change is unequivocal. He went on to describe numerous initiatives undertaken by insurance industry in its effort to understand and address climate change. Throughout the talk, he stayed connected to his audience of actuaries, instilling within us a sense of how we can be part of the solution. Quite inspirational!

Past President and Program Planning Co-Chair of the Casualty Actuaries of the Northwest

Dr. Mills was excellent as our lead speaker at our climate change insurance litigation conference, which addressed new liabilities and the changing landscape of State regulatory reforms, litigation including class action lawsuits, and potential corporate liabilities. His primer on the science behind the global warming debate set the tone of the entire event, and Dr. Mills was quoted repeatedly by speakers during the remainder of the day. He received "excellent" ratings in the vast majority of the speaker evaluation forms, and he has been asked to participate in other national seminars on the basis of his comprehensive presentation.

Dr. Evan Mills provides clear insight into complicated research, while explaining what his findings mean to business people in clear language, in a compelling manner. He takes difficult material and makes it accessible and usable. He's a strong presenter with a good sense of humor while commanding tremendous respect and projecting his thought leadership status without any airs about him.

I thank you very much for the excellent presentation you have given on May 15th to the staff of Munich Re here in Munich. The presentation with the title "From Risk to Opportunity: How Insurers can Proactively and Profitably Manage Climate Change" has exactly addressed the topics of our interest. The attendance of more than 200 Munich Re staff has been extraordinary for such events, which on average only attract about half the number of participants. Your presentation was clearly structured, and by the style of your presentation you achieved to fascinate the audience of the topic. Your presentation definitely has been a milestone for our topic management of climate change within Munich Re. I have received a lot of extremely positive feedback from the participants. We are really grateful to you that you gave us the honor to give this presentation at Munich Re.
